In Israel, a Mechina is a unique, year-long leadership program for young adults between high school and military service. It prepares participants for meaningful army service and active roles in society by fostering personal growth, resilience, community responsibility, and a strong connection to Israeli identity. The academy at Nir Oz will welcome young men and women from across the country and from all sectors of Israeli society—secular and religious—who will live together in the kibbutz in a residential setting throughout the year. These young leaders will live, learn, volunteer, and challenge themselves together—gaining tools that shape who they become.

Kibbutz Nir Oz, one of the communities most devastated by the October 7th attack, is still largely empty. Rebuilding it requires more than infrastructure—it requires spirit. Establishing a Mechina here is a powerful step toward that goal. It brings life and leadership back to the kibbutz, offering young people a purpose and path forward, while supporting the long-term recovery of the entire community. With your help, this academy can become a symbol of hope, resilience, and renewal—for the people of Nir Oz, for Israeli society, and for the entire Jewish people.
